1,3-Dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone, High polar and aprotic solvent
Application ::
- 1,3-Dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone (DMI) is a cyclic urea used as a high-boiling polar aprotic solvent. It is colourless, transparent, highly polar and has high thermal and chemical stability. In many applications, DMI can be used as a substitute or replacement for the carcinogenic solvent HMPA. DMI has a boiling point of 225 degree C, a flash point of 120 degree C and a melting point of 8.2 degree C. DMI has excellent solvating ability for both inorganic and organic compounds.
